Picture depicting the historic birthplace of the rites of Freemasonry
Around 1852
Engraving (54 cm x 70 cm)
Brother Kiener, the founder of the Bonaparte Lodge created this rare image representing dignitaries and allies of the First Empire wearing their aprons and long collars, standing to attention. This was used as propaganda to highlight the common destiny between Bonapartism and Freemasonry, the latter of which was significantly less manageable under the Second Empire.
