Mercury: from series of prints executed in 1531 by Hans Sebold Beham (1500-50), illustrating the planets. Male planet, dry and passive; those born under Mercury eloquent, inventive and love science, especially mathematics, and were tall, slender and delicate. Planet's metal quicksilver, its day Wednesday and night Saturday. Friendly to Sun, hostile to Venus. Had two houses, Gemini by day, Virgo by night (see chariot wheels)
