Flamsteed House, Greenwich Park, near London, England, the Royal Greenwich Observatory, c1835. Built by Christopher Wren (1632-1723) on the orders of Charles II with the aim of providing accurate navigation tables and of solving the problem of finding longitude at sea. Hand-coloured engraving c1835.
