Professor Bergmann 19th century injecting a tubercular patient, 1891. Bergmann assisted Robert Koch (1843-1910) in investigations on treatment of Tuberculosis. In 1890 Koch introduced Tuberculin which he thought was a cure for TB. Its curative powers were a disappointment and its value as a diagnostic tool was overlooked. From "La Science Illustree".
