'Explosives'. Colonel Vivian Dering Majendie, Chief Inspector of Explosives, 1892. Majendie (1836-1898), British soldier, served with the Royal Artillery at Sebastopol during the Crimean War and at Lucknow. His field was exploisves and he was one of the first bomb disposal experts.
