Caroline Elizabeth Sarah Norton (born Sheridan - 1808-1877) English poet, novelist and pamphleteer. Because of abuse by her husband, she campaigned for rights of women in marriage. Heroine of the novel by George Meredith "Diana of the Crossways" 1885 based on Caroline's life. Engraving 1877.
