Great Melbourne Telescope. 48-inch (122cm) reflecting telescope, the last big telescope to have a speculum metal mirror. Part of the tube was latticed to reduce weight. Cassegrain focus on modified 'English' equatorial mounting, the telescope was assembled in Dublin before being dismantled and shipped to Australia in 1868. Built by Grubbs of Dublin. Engraving.
