Doctrine of the Signatures, the theory of medicine that like cures like. Varieties of Hepatica (Liverwort) - 1,2,3 - and Geranium. The leaves of Hepatica were thought to resemble the liver, and were used to "coole and strengthen that organ". According to Camerarius, Geraniums were "a singular remedy against the Stone both in the reines (kidneys) and bladder".
