The melting pot by Henry Mayer, 1868-1954, artist. Published by Puck, 1914 August 1st. Illustration shows a vignette cartoon with two large hands labelled 'Militarism' and 'Jingoism' at centre that are squeezing men labelled 'Labour' and 'Capital' over an inverted spike-topped helmet stuck in the ground and overflowing with their blood; there is a skull and crossbones emblem on the front of the helmet. Flanking the main scene are vignettes depicting, on the left, science, art (sculpture), and woodworking, and on the right, agriculture, art (painting), and blacksmithing.
