Dutch cartoon forecasts aeronautic events for the year 1804 by showing a scene at a failing balloon ascension, in the interests of scientific inquiry, possibly by 'Wille van de Heeren Hopman & Loude.' Men struggle to inflate the balloon, labelled 'Lust tot Onderzoek,' as labourers bring necessary supplies to the loading area and two draft-dogs strain at a wagon carrying 'vitriol' and 'spykers.' Soldiers armed with swords hold back the unruly crowd of spectators.
