Panel 1 from Pomona. To the left is the partial depiction of Muyaal Hix Chaak, ruler of Pomona, a Maya site, east of Palenque. To the right a sub-ruler (sajal) and priest (ti'sak hu'n). The event occurs at the close of a 3-day ceremony to celebrate the end of k'atun, January 20, 771 AD. An offering of incense is being presented to a serpent spirit from the waters of the underworld.
