The Glenlyon Brooch used inscriptions and magical gems to protect the wearer. The inscription on the back of this brooch includes the names of the three wise men who came to worship the Christ child. Their names were recited as a charm against epilepsy and their shrine at Cologne, Germany. The brooch takes its name from its historic home of Glerilyon in Scotland. About 1500-30 Scotland.
