Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (1796-1875) Fontainebleau-en Foret, oil on paper laid down on canvas. This tranquil study of a woodland glade in the Fontainbleau area, near Paris was painted very early in Corot's career. The scene with its trees captured loosely in a variety of rich greens was sketched directly from nature onto paper.
