Advances in zoology, botany, astronomy and navigation and information brought back by traders, scientists, pilgrims and explorers resulted in major advances in geography and allowed Muslim scholars to develop highly accurate maps and terrestrial globes. These maps laid the foundation for the worldwide travels of later European explorers.
