Tel Aviv Central looking down on Allenby Street. Tel Aviv is the second most populous city in Israel, and makes up the largest part of the city municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo. Tel Aviv was founded by the Jewish community on the outskirts of the ancient port city of Jaffa in 1909. The two cities were merged in 1950 as immigration increased.
