Sir Henry Morton Stanley GCB (1841 – 1904) Welsh-American, journalist and explorer who was famous for his exploration of central Africa and his search for missionary and explorer David Livingstone. Punch's combined welcome to Henry Morton Stanley and to 'Cleopatra's Needle' the obelisk which Erasmus Wilson had transported from Egypt to be erected on the Thames Embankment. Punch, 1878.
