Engraving depicting a model butter factory, where the machinery was powered by a steam engine through belt and shaft drive. The milk was poured into the tank on the platform on the left, which was then allowed to run through a refrigerator into centrifugal cream separators below. The cream would then be put into churns, then passed to the working and blending machine on the right, and finally weighed and packed. Dated 19th Century
