Title
"1764 Nicolas" - The oldest graffiti in Paris
Caption
"1764 Nicolas"
At 11 place de Vosges, in Paris in the Marais district, on one of the pillars of its famous arcades, we can see what is considered one of the oldest graffiti in Paris. On this graffiti dated 1764 and engraved in the stone (which has certainly allowed it to be preserved until today), we can read the first name "NICOLAS" which is the author of it, Nicolas Edme Restif de la Bretonne, a writer. He created them all over Paris and published them in his book: "Mes Inscriptions". Only the one on the Place des Vosges remains today
