The Kelchstein is a mushroom rock in the Zittau Mountains near Oybin in Saxony and is part of the Kelchsteine natural monument. The Kelchstein is made of chalk sandstone, which is quite poor in binders. Its unusual mushroom shape is due to the effect of wind abrasion and erosion on the various hard sandstone layers
