Proschwitz vineyard The Proschwitz vineyards were owned by the Bishops of Meissen from the middle of the 12th century until the Reformation A large proportion of the mass wines required in Saxony during this period came from the Proschwitz vineyard. The first documented mention of a knight, Eckbert von Proschwitz, was in a document from 1102. The place name Proschwitz indicates an early Sorbian settlement.
