Marl-Haltern am See, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, Flooding on the Lippe, river in the Ruhr area, in Haltern-Lippramsdorf and Marl, HaLiMa for short, the flood protection dykes were renewed over a length of 5.6 kilometres. The existing dykes on the north and south banks of the Lippe were replaced by new, relocated dykes. A floodplain area of around 60 hectares was created.
