Schwarzenberg/Erzgeb. is a large district town in the Erzgebirge district of Saxony. Built in the 12th century as a fortification to protect a trade route, the small mountain town developed into the centre of the dominion of the same name and the later Schwarzenberg district. The Protestant-Lutheran St. George's Church is a baroque hall church which, together with the castle, characterises the townscape of Schwarzenberg.
