The Cistercian monastery of St Marienstern (sorb. Marijina Hwezda) is located on the Klosterwasser in Panschwitz-Kuckau in Upper Lusatia in Saxony. Sankt Marienstern is one of the few religious houses that have served the same purpose since their foundation. Even today, 19 Cistercian nuns live and work in the monastery with Abbess Benedicta Waurick and, in addition to the solemn Liturgy of the Hours, pastoral care and work in the house and garden, they also dedicate themselves to the care, education and employment of disabled people who are accommodated in several residential areas. Parts of the monastery are freely accessible. These include: The monastery church, monastery garden, monastery museum, monastery restaurant and monastery shop. The cloister as the nuns' living space and the cloister are naturally not open to the public. Only for the 1st Saxon State Exhibition in 1998 did the convent open this area for the exhibition and its visitors., St. Mariestern Monastery, Panschwitz Kuckau, Saxony, Germany, Europe
