Memorial in honour of the north african soldiers who died for France during the WWII. At Airvault, Deux-Sèvres department, France. The memorial is located near the former Airvault internment camp. After the defeat of the French army in 1940, the Airvault camp was a prison for colonial prisoners of war, for soldiers hailing from North Africa. Many of these prisoners died in the camp because of the poor sanitory conditions. They were suffering from diseases like tuberculosis, dysentery
