The surviving half-timbered houses nos. 55-67, the so-called Siebenbrüderhäuser (seven brothers' houses), go back to a legend in which a skipper is said to have built a house for each of his sons. However, his own building would have towered over them all. Flood marks of the Elbe are attached to houses no. 43 and 69, as well as to the ferryman's house
