In the early hours of the morning, a section of the Carola Bridge collapsed for unknown reasons. Over a length of around 100 metres, the section on which the trams normally run collapsed into the Elbe. Demolition of the collapsed section of the bridge began during the night of 13 September, and heavy equipment was used for this purpose.
