Lichtenburg Castle is a Renaissance castle built in the 16th century in Prettin. It stands on the site of a former monastery and was built as a widow's residence for the Electresses of Saxony. Under the National Socialists, the Lichtenburg concentration camp was set up here for men from 1933 to 1937 and then for woman until 1939. Today, Lichtenburg Castle is a museum of the town of Prettin and has been part of the Saxony-Anhalt Memorials Foundation since 1 January 2007., Prettin, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, Europe
