Detroit, Michigan USA - 19 December 2024 - Portraits of 104 residents of three Detroit neighborhoods--Corktown, North Corktown, and Hubbard Richard--make up a mural by photojournalists Jessica Trevino and Romain Blanquart. The three neighborhoods surround Michigan Central Station--formerly a symbol of Detroit's decline but now the engine of rapid change, which brings both revitalization and the threat of displacement. Titled 'I Am Because We Are, ' the mural honors the diverse residents who have made the communities what they are.
