Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, Renaturalised Boye, the tributary of the Emscher, was transformed into a near-natural watercourse, flood protection through newly designed flooding areas, the Boye is now free of wastewater after the construction of a parallel sewer, is part of the Emscher river system and thus part of the Emscher conversion, was previously an open, above-ground wastewater canal, mixed water canal with surface water and wastewater.
