Rochlitz Castle is located in the west of the town of Rochlitz above the Zwickauer Mulde river in the district of Central Saxony in the Free State of Saxony. An extensive castle complex rises on the site of an imperial castle built in the second half of the 10th century, which passed into the possession of the Wettin margraves in 1143
