Stitching with gilded silver pearls sewn onto green silk-velvet (14.2 x 8.7 cm)
It is accompanied by Bonaparte's lead pencil that is kept down the side of the book.
It used to have a connector on the edge of the cover which has since disappeared.
Based on its design, the notebook is linked to Joseph Bonaparte's time in Italy.

Inside there are two hinges and three pencil holders made out of moiré raw-silk containing a pad of paper with gilded edges.
