The bowl forms part of a set with a large water jug (ref. CHC10A00_094). This set was moved into the Sèvres factory shop on 9th September 1807. The pieces were gifts commissioned by Emperor Napoleon I for his Imperial Highness, the Duke of Berg and the Fleet Admiral on 16th October 1807. In fact it was Joachim Murat (1767-1815), and it proves how Napoleon estimated Murat. Here is a ceremonial object relationed with the representation of the power.
