An essential link in the Third Reich's arms industry, the Krupp factories and shipyards were the target of numerous air raids, especially as of 1943. Principally, the installations of the Essen headquarters. The largest raid, which took place on March 11, 1945, with 1,055 heavy bombers of the Royal Air Force, dropped 4,700 T of bombs on the industrial installations and the city of Essen.
