American air-raid warning SCR-270 (Search Light Control Radar).
Conceived in 1938 by engineers of the US Army Signal Corps Research & Development Laboratory in Fort Monmouth (New Jersey).
The best American pre-raid radar in 1939, it was adopted by the U.S. Army in May 1940.
It was made by Westinghouse, which had already delivered 112 units before Pearl Harbor.
Six were in service on the perimeter of Oahu (Hawaii)
at the moment of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941).
An SCR-270 installed at Opana detected the first wave of Japanese planes.
