After capturing fortifications of Fort Maxim Gorky, during the siege of Sebastopol (Crimea, Ukraine, U.S.S.R.), in the summer of 1942, by German forces, two German soldiers hold up a Soviet flag bearing effigies of Lenin and Stalin.
One of the most powerful fortresse in the world, it fell to the assaults of the XIth German army of Marshal von Manstein, reinforced by Rumanian unis, following bitter fighting (May-July 1942).
