José Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913), Mexican engraver, illustrator and creator of la "Calavera de la Catrina," an elegantly dressed female skeleton wearing a hat, typical image in Mexican culture.
José Marti (1853-1895), Cuban politician and poet, father of Cuban independence.
The fresco decorated the main hall of the former Hotel de Prado, situated near the town's main park.
