Title
Rome, Villa Farnesina, The Hall of Perspectives
Caption
Rome, Villa Farnesina, The Hall of Perspectives: the ample frieze with mythological scenes inspired by the Ovid Metamorphoses. Detail of Procris impaled by the never erring javelin and Cephalus running towards her. On the left, Aurora and Titone on a chariot pulled by four horses. Aurora seems to be in some way responsible of the death of Procri, having caused her jealousy.
In the backround, preceeding the cart, Venus, (Hesperus?) holding a star.
Frescoes by Baldassarre Peruzzi and workshop (1517-18).
