Montefalco, Museum of St. Francis, Church of St. Francis, Chapel of St. Jerome: frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli, 1452. In the vault, the four evangelists. On the upper wall, Christ crucified between St. Dominic, St. Francis, St. Romuald and St. Silvester. At the centre a fake polyptych with the Virgin Mary and Child, S. Anthony of Padua , St. Jerome, St. John and St. Louis of Toulouse. On the left, St. Jerome leaves Rome; on the right St. Jerome takes the thorn from the lion's paw.
