Perugia, National Gallery of Umbria: Pala (Altarpiece) of Santa Maria dei Fossi, by Bernardino di Betto known as il Pinturicchio, 1495 - 6, tempera on panel. At the centre of the Holy Family, on the left St. Augustine and the archangel Gabriel; on the right S. Jerome and the Virgin. In the cymatium, Christ in piety supported by angels. In the predella on the left St. Augustine and the child who wants to empty the sea with a spoon, on the right S. Jerome in the desert. In the tympanum the dove of the Holy Spirit. In the plinths the symbols of the four evangelists.
