Genova, Duomo (Cattedrale di S. Lorenzo), Cappella di San Giovanni Battista:
"Arca delle reliquie di San Giovanni Battista/particolare di Erodiade che riceve la testa del Battista e della danza di Salomè" (1217/1225 ca.) del Maestro dell’Arca del Battista (Francia, prima metà sec. XIII).
L’urna ha la forma di un edificio religioso ed è concepito in modo da poter essere sollevato per permettere la visione del reliquiario d’argento visibile dal foro centrale a quadrifoglio. Tale reliquiario si ritiene che contenesse le ceneri del Santo, portate a Genova nel 1098.

"The Ark of the relics of St. St. John the Baptist/detail of Herodias receiving the head of St. John the Baptist and Salome's dance" (ca. 1217/1225) by the Master of the Ark of the Baptist (France, first half of the 13th century).
The Ark has the form of a religious building and is designed so that it can be raised to allow the vision of the silver shrine visible from the central hole. This shrine is believed to contain the ashes of the saint, brought to Genoa in 1098.
