Sassuolo, Palazzo Ducale Estense, Galleria di Bacco: “Le baccanti uccidono con sassi e bastoni Orfeo per essersi rifiutato di cantare le lodi di Bacco”. il dipinto raffigura una marina dominata da un faraglione mentre in primo piano si trova una figura allegorica di vecchio (raffigura l'Ebro, il fiume in cui sarà scagliata la testa di Orfeo). Si tratta di uno dei quarantuno riquadri con scene dipinte da Jean Boulanger che narrano le vicende di Bacco. Dipinto murale a tempera, 1650 - 52.

Sassuolo, Este Ducal Palace, Gallery of Bacchus: "The bacchantes kill Orpheus with stones and sticks for refusing to sing the praises of Bacchus". The painting depicts a marina dominated by a stack while in the foreground there is an allegorical figure of an old man (it depicts the Ebro, the river into which Orpheus' head will be thrown). It is one of the forty-one panels with scenes painted by Jean Boulanger which narrate the events of Bacchus. Wall tempera painting, 1650 - 52.
