Il finto arazzo da cui fa capolino un putto, raffigura un vasto paesaggio fluviale dominato in primo piano dalle impalcature delle due colonne corinzie. Bacco, seduto su di un masso, osserva i numerosi operai con funi e argani. Si tratta di uno dei quarantuno riquadri con scene dipinte da Jean Boulanger che narrano le vicende di Bacco. Dipinto murale a tempera, 1650 - 52.

Sassuolo, Este Ducal Palace, the Bacchus Gallery: “Raising the Columns on the River Ganges”.
The faux tapestry from which a putto peeks out depicts a vast river landscape dominated in the foreground by the scaffolding of the two Corinthian columns. Bacchus, seated on a boulder, observes the numerous workers with ropes and winches. It is one of the forty-one panels with scenes painted by Jean Boulanger which narrate the events of Bacchus. Wall tempera painting, 1650 - 52.
