Title
The Church of Madeleine
Caption
The Church of Madeleine is located in the 8th district in Paris. It is a flawless example of architectural, neoclassical era architecture in its' design. It was constructed over the course of 85 years as a result of political issues in France at the end of the 18th Century, and the start of the 19th. The political changes which took place during this era resulted in various modifications to the location and plans regarding the construction of the building. Originally intended by Napoleon to be a temple dedicated to the glory of his Great Army in 1806, the building was transformed in 1837 into a train station, the first of its type in Paris, before becoming a Church in 1845.
