The phylloxera is a tiny stinging insect, known to inhabit plant vines. It shares similar characteristics to insects of the aphid variety, with a remarkable degree of variation between members of the species: * amongst the parthenogenetic forms, including between the females which reproduce by parthenogenesis without participation from males of the species are wingless and are yellow or brown in colour, with their size varying from between 0.3 to 1.4 mm, or the gall variety, which live on leaves; or the snout variety, which live in tree roots. * the insects are not known to need to feed themselves, and thus do not have mouths; or the winged females, of yellow or gold tan in colour, with transparent wings, which measure from 2 to 3 mm, or the wingless males, measuring from 0.3 to 0.5 mm in length.
