Elisabeth Amélie Eugénie of Wittelsbach (born on the 24th December 1837 in Munich and died on the 10th September 1898 in Geneva) was an Austrian Empress (1854 1898) and Queen of Hungary (1867 1898), born into the title of Duchess of Bavaria, consort to the Emperor François-Joseph the 1st. She is known equally as Elisabeth von Wittelsbach, Elisabeth of Bavaria or Elisabeth of Austria but she is best known by the name Sissi.
