Austrians 1st January: the Proclomation of the Count of Provence (the future Louis XVIII) inviting his french subjects to welcome the arrival of his allied invaders. January March: the French campaign. France is invaded. Napoleon is successful in out-manouvering his enemies and fighting seperate campaigns in Champaubert, Montmirail, Vauchamps (10th-15th February) and in Montereau (17th-18th February)... 12th March: Wellington captures Bordeaux, named by the mayor. 20th March: French defeat by Schwartzenburg at Acris-sur-Aube. 21st March: Austrians take Lyon. 30th March: Paris surrenders. In April, the marshals of the Empire refuse to continue fighting. 1st April: A provisional government is organised, composed of royalists. Talleyrand is appointed head of the provisional government by the assemblies.
