Paris - Beaubourg - The Pompidou Centre. The Pompidou Centre, located in the site of the formerly unsanitary islet. Its' construction, ordered by Georges Pompidou, came about as the result of an architectural competition. On the 19th July, a jury presided over by Robert Bordaz chose to undergo construction of the project by architects Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers and Gianfranco Franchini.
