Chartres. The Chartres Cathedral. North side. This bay (on the right) has been dedicated to depicting figures of the Old Testament. Salomon, representing Jesus Christ, is closer to the Queen of Saba, who represents the Church. At her feet the "mad" Marcoulf, in a posture similar to that of the gargoyles.
