Abélard leaving Héloïse. Pierre Abélard or Pierre Abailard (Le Pallet, near Nantes, 1079 - near Chalon-sur-Saône, 1142), buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetary (7th division) was a theologian, philosopher and french composer. He was one of the main savons, even one of the founders of "scolasticism" with Alexandre de Hales. He influenced the sceptic and rationalist movements.
