Château de Chambord. The Château de Chambord is the largest castle in la Loire. It was built under the order of Francis Ist in order to be able to live closer to his mistress the Countess of Thoury who lived close by. The construction of the castle was undergone between 1519 and 1547 on a small tributary of the Beuvron river, itself a tributary of la Loire, it is located around 6km from the left bank of la Loire and around 14km from the East of Blois, in the department of Loir-et-Cher (41), in France.
